“Harvey Breadwinner” was drawn in 1981, while I was still learning how to draw figures properly, and practicing my lettering skills. I had worked a lot of different jobs already, and was always looking for gags that came from my own experience. I was intrigued by the comic possibilities of a complete dolt in the workplace, who couldn’t hold a regular job because of his own mental deficiencies. This was in no way a reflection of my own reality, despite rumors to the contrary!
